A note about the Theology of Thanksgiving… George Washington’s Proclamation of 1789 and Abraham Lincoln’s Proclamation of 1863 established a day of Thanksgiving to be part of the American calendar each year. However, Neither of them invented the idea of Thanksgiving! The Bible did that! The King James Version records: 1 The word “thanks” is found 75 times. 2. “Thanksgiving” is found 28 times. 3. “Thank" is found 27 times. 4. “Thankful” is found 3 times. 5. “Thanked” is written 3 times. 6. “Thinking’s” is found 2 times. And… 7. “Thankfulness” is found once. That is a total of 139 references to the theology of thanksgiving. We will study this in more depth on November 22. Hope to see you!
