volunteer opportunities

First Baptist Church is made up of ordinary people who serve an extraordinary God. We'd love to help you use your God-given gifts and talents to lift Jesus up within our church and share His love in the community. This could be through one of our local ministries, the worship team, working in the sound booth, teaching Sunday school for kids and teens, set up/take down for events, or even a new ministry that you'd like to start up! Check out the volunteer opportunities at FBC and see where you can connect with others while using your gifts for God's glory.

  • convalescent ministry

Convalescent Ministry is a fantastic way to share God’s love. We have one-on-one interaction with residents in local nursing homes. Every visit is different. Sometimes we offer manicures, put together arts and crafts, and sometimes we just visit with them. Fred brings his violin and we go room to room and sing, we dance, or sit in on an activity. We hand out homemade cards and knickknacks every time we visit. For Christmas, we take gifts and sing carols from room to room. Watch the calendar for upcoming dates since it’s different every month. Email Monica Medina for more information and when we will resume this ministry.

  • ronald mcdonald house

Ronald McDonald House is an outreach event that FBC participates in several times throughout the year. Volunteers go to the Ronald McDonald House in San Diego to prepare and cook a delicious meal for the families staying there. These families have sick children at Rady's Children's Hospital and the volunteers minister by cooking for them, visiting, and showing them the love of Jesus. All are welcome to participate. The event dates will be posted on the church calendar. If you would like to sign up, email Rachel Gorken or call the church office.

  • sound booth

Do you enjoy mixing sound? Are you interested in learning? We would love for you to join our sound booth team. We'll teach you how to run the sound board, blending what's on stage and making our online presence crystal clear. Or you can help run the slides on Sunday morning. For more information, contact Nik Ives.

  • worship team

The Worship Team at First Baptist Church serves the church by providing music on Sunday mornings during our worship service. We practice once a week on Sunday mornings before the service. If you are interested in auditioning for the worship team as a musician, singer, or both, contact our worship leader, Sheerah Haywood

  • VIP ministry | Sunday greeters

There's nothing better than a smile and a cheerful greeting when you arrive at church on a Sunday morning. Are you outgoing and enjoy making people feel welcome as they enter God's house? If so, we'd love to have you be a part of our VIP Ministry! As our church continues to grow and restrictions are lifted, we need people like YOU to greet visitors and members as they attend FBC. To join our VIP Ministry, contact Dan Malcolm
